General Dentistry: The science concerned with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the teeth, gums, and related structures of the mouth and including the repair or replacement of defective teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry: the branch of dentistry dealing with the appearance of the teeth.

Prosthodontics: The branch of dentistry that deals with the replacement of missing teeth and related mouth or jaw structures by bridges, dentures, or other artificial devices.

Dental Implants: Dental implants are tiny titanium posts which are inserted into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts are then attached to the implant which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

Orthodontics: The dental specialty and practice of preventing and correcting irregularities of the teeth, as by the use of braces.

Periodontics: The branch of dentistry that deals with the study and treatment of periodontal disease.
