Meet Dr. Scanlan

Dr. Kevin G. Scanlan came to the area in 1972 to attend the University of Richmond and still calls Richmond his home. Kevin has been practicing general dentistry for 18 years, the last 11 with Perkinson and Associates.

Kevin is emphatic about people of all ages seeking help and doing all they can for good oral health, important to overall health. “It’s never too late. A conscientious regimen of maintenance can be started at any age, and I even encourage adults to consider orthodontics when it appears that longstanding problems can be improved,” he says.

Dr. Scanlan also emphasizes the importance of a proper diet: lots of natural foods—fresh fruits and vegetables, and restricting the intake of fats and processed sugars. “There really is very little reason for most people not to keep their own teeth for their lifetime,” he adds. Scanlan sees approximately 2500 patients a year and has observed that, overall, females take better care of their teeth.
