Dr. S. Nikki Sparks is a Powhatan, Virginia native. She attended James Madison University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. At JMU, Nikki conducted organic synthesis research and her work was published in a chemistry journal. Though she enjoyed research and working with her hands, hours of solitude in a lab did not fit her description of a dream job. Dentistry was a perfect fit; it allowed her to put her love of science to use by serving patients and building relationships at the same time.
Nikki is a recent alumnus of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. Throughout her life, Nikki has always been involved in community service and views her career in dentistry as an excellent channel for her to help others improve their overall health and wellness. While at VCU she had the opportunity to participate in several programs which provide care to residents of underserved areas in Virginia. Weekends spent volunteering in southwestern Virginia and the Eastern Shore as part of the Mission of Mercy projects are among her fondest dental school memories. She also participated in Give Kids a Smile and visited local elementary schools to promote good oral hygiene and raise dental awareness. She plans on remaining active in these and other community events sponsored by the Virginia and Richmond Dental Societies.
Nikki joins the Powhatan office, eager to practice dentistry where she grew up. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is fond of working with children. She finds it rewarding to help nervous patients of all ages conquer their dental anxieties and turn what could be perceived as a negative experience into a pleasant visit. Nikki thinks the best thing about being a dentist is watching a patient leave happy because you realize that you have not only put a smile on their face, but have played a role in improving its appearance.
In her spare time Nikki can be found running, swimming, hiking, biking, reading, or just spending time outside on a nice day. She currently lives in Midlothian with her adorable yorkie, Pippen.
